Ubisoft assures fans that The Division will not have pay-to-win microtransactions

It'll all be stuff to make you look good.

Ubisogt has been playing it safe when it comes to talking about The Division and microtransactions. While the PlayStation Store hints at there being microtransactions in the game by saying, "In-game purchases optional," Ubisoft refuses to consider the purchaseable in-game content 'microtransactions.' They like to consider it good ol' DLC

Regardless of wording, there will be purchaseable items in The Division. Luckily, Ubisoft has made it clear that these items will not offer buyers a one-up over other players.

"We will sell more stuff for you to do in the game in the form of [downloadable content], but there won't be a pay-to-win or a pay-to-get-better-gear or pay-to-get-more-Dark-Zone-credit," explained creative director Magnus Jansen to Mashable.

"You can buy a pack of completely cosmetic items to make you look awesome. That you will be able to do, but that's not how I define microtransactions. We don't have it, I'm very pleased to say."

Wording is definitely playing a big role in this DLC-Microtransaction debacle, but as the age old saying goes:  “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose / By any other name would smell as sweet.” You can call microtransactions whatever you want, they are what they are.
