Crunchyroll, a U.S-based anime streaming site and purveyor of most things anime, has revealed that the Angewoman/Hikari bundle has been cancelled in the West.
According to the announcement on Crunchyroll's forums, orders for the figures would not be filled due to the figures appearance. What are the facts about the figure? It's busty, it's leaning over and one butt cheek is exposed.
“This cancellation came at the order of the original rights holders. They wanted to market Digimon as a child-friendly property, and though[t] this Angewomon figure wasn’t appropriate for that image.”
The more interesting aspect of the figures Western cancellation is that the Angewomon figure released in Japan without an issue.
It's safe to say that children wouldn't be purchasing the figure, whose price was well over $100. The anime first debuted in America in 1999, making most individuals who saw the series well over 16 years old. Regardless having of the fan base old enough to purchase the item and have enough money to purchase it, Angewomon will not be releasing in the West.
