Agents of SHIELD confirms Grant Ward’s role as the Hive

Coulson's robo-arm may have met its match

Agents of Shield returns to television in a couple weeks after it's midseason break. When it does, it will show Grant Ward as the evil character the Hive according to Nerdist.

After the mid season finale last year, we were left with a cliff hangar of Grant Ward back on Earth. Of course, it wasn't the "real" Ward because Agent Coulson crushed his chest with his robo-arm on Maveth, killing him in the process. As Coulson and Fitz escaped through the portal back to Earth, they thought all was hunky dory. Of course, they coudn't have been more wrong.

In the comics, the Hive is a hellacious evil villain that is insanely powerful. He was initially formed when the Kree began visiting multiple planets to create the Inhumans. Hive was created on Earth and devastatingly powerful. Deemed too powerful by some, he was banished to Maveth. Fast forward years later, Hydra believes he is the Earth's rightful ruler and have been seeking his return. This is where we left off with the season 3 mid-season sendoff last year.  So, what makes him so powerful you ask? That's simple.

The Hive was originally a Hydra agent that was selected for the Ravenous program. He was placed in a special pool full of parasites, and his body eventually mutated becoming the host body for all of them. As a result, Hive has the ability to mind control enemies by shooting these parasites onto enemies. He can also breed and control all of them from his own body as well. Now, in Agents of Shield he will be contained in Grant Ward's body, but of course will transform just as Lash did. The Hive also speaks in an Alien language only few Hydra agents can understand.

Agents of Shield returns on March 8th. In the meantime, take a look at Grant Ward as the Hive below, compliments of Nerdist
