Capcom explains how Street Fighter 5 will punish rage-quitters

RIP League Points

Street Fighter 5 has struggled with rampant rage-quitting from day one, in no small part because it has no real penalty for it. True to their promises of severe punishment, Capcom today detailed how they will be cracking down on rage-quitters going forward.

The immediate punishment for frequently rage-quitting matches will be a significant drop in League Points and rank, Capcom said in a blog post. As of today, only 30 players have been penalized in this fashion, but an upcoming account sweep will dole out sweet, sweet punishment to all guilty accounts. Naturally, “further action” will be taken for repeat offenders.

“To be clear, we are only targeting the worst offenders in our system, so if you have had a few instances of being disconnected during a match, you have nothing to worry about,” Capcom said. “The players who fit the criteria of what we would call a ‘Rage Quitter’ typically have an 80-90% disconnect rate and their accounts sit far outside of the norm as compared to the majority of other players.”

SF5’s March update will also roll out some bug fixes, namely Fighter ID and Rival Search functionality. Auto-disconnects in Battle Lounge will also be fixed up.
