Destiny’s next big content update, update 2.2.0, will arrive on April 12.
True to previous teasers, Bungie is promising a significant Light increase with update 2.2.0. An exact Light value has not been provided, but going by previous updates and expansions, we can expect a three- to four-level jump.
The aptly titled “April Update” will also introduce new PvE content, a new Strike dubbed Blighted Chalice, “sandbox” and Crucible updates and new gear. Taken-inspired Guardian equipment is among the highlights, as evidence by the image above. However, whether it is actual equipment or merely a shader remains to be seen.
Ahead of the April launch, Bungie will chronicle the update’s content in a series of Twitch streams, not unlike the ongoing Ride Along docu-series. The first stream takes a look at the “new things to do” and begins on Wednesday, March 23. On March 30, the team will break down “new things to earn,” and on April 6, explore the sandbox and Crucible updates. All streams will be hosted via Bungie’s Twitch channel and begin at 11 a.m. Pacific (2 p.m. Eastern).
It's not yet clear whether this April update is the "large expansion" Bungie said would arrive in 2016, though from the sound of things, it should give players plenty to do. The question is, will it last Guardians until Destiny 2 launches in 2017?
