FOX has now confirmed that Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell and the rest of the Prison Break cast that are working on a new mini-series are looking towards an early 2017 premiere.
Prison Break looked dead in the water after Michael Scofield was killed in what looked to be the final season of the show back in 2008, however in August of last year FOX announced its impending return.
Not a lot of information in regards to the show has been revealed as of yet, but we do know that it is set to air at 9pm on Thursdays. This information was confirmed as FOX laid out its schedule for both Fall and Spring.
In terms of casting, the following names will be included in the show's revival:
- Wentworth Miller – Michael Scofield
- Dominic Purcell – Lincoln Burrows
- Sarah Wayne Callies – as Sara Tancredi
- Amaury Nolasco – as Fernando Sucre
- Robert Knepper – as Theodore Bagwell
- Rockmond Dunbar – as Benjamin Miles Franklin
- Paul Adelstein – as agent Paul Kellerman
Avid fans of the show will have noticed the name 'Wentworth Miller' on there, and might even have wondered how that would be portrayed on screen. FOX have – so far at least – kept their cards firmly to their chest in terms of dropping hints to Michael Scofield's return, but fans will remember his dramatic death at the end of the season – a plot hole that could prove difficult to pave over.
Many people will be happy to see the return of Scofield, nevertheless, the way in which the character returns is very much a mystery at this stage.
However, that doesn't mean to say that his return will be lacklustre, in fact, back in July 2015 Wentworth Miller described plans for the show as "completely brilliant."
So, guess we'll just have to wait and see.
