Kingdom Hearts 3 to release sometime after April 2017

Square Enix likes to leave people in anticipation.

Recent reports indicate that Square Enix has officially delayed the release of Kingdom Hearts 3 until sometime after April 2017, which could very well leave us waiting until 2020 to see the game.

It was initially announced that the third installment to the Kingdom Hearts trilogy was expected to release by the end of Q4 2016. Now it seems after the release of the slideshow for Square Enix's Financial Results Briefing Session, KH3 is not on the docket for release before the conclusion of March 2017, which is the end of Square's financial year.

The studio's focus will be centered on the library of other games slated for release before that time including Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Dragon Quest: Heroes 2, Final Fantasy XV, Rise of the Tomb Raider, SaGa: Scarlet Grace, and World of Final Fantasy. In the meantime, Square will also release Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue for those fans of the series itching for the next game and want to begin learning the pre-KH3 lore.
