The Order:1886 dev’s new game probably isn’t what you expected

From werewolves to squishy things.

Ready At Dawn brought us the PlayStation 4 exclusive The Order: 1886 back in February 2015. Deformers, Ready At Dawn's upcoming game, will be the opposite of The Order. It's a multiplayer-only arena combat game with squishy little monsters battling each other.

"It might not be what you expect out of our studio," said Ru Weerasuriya, co-founder and chief creative officer of Ready At Dawn (via Polygon). "I think that's been the first reaction for everybody who's laid their eyes on this game."

While the game had been highly anticipated, reviews called the game all style, no content. The game had put the gameplay on the backburner – but Read At Dawn's new game will not make the same mistake twice.

“The foundation of The Order was the [intellectual property], creating something that felt different in the gaming world,” said Weerasuriya (via The Verge). “That was the driving force then. Here the driving force is gameplay. The very first idea was gameplay, the very last idea will be gameplay, too. It’s only driven by that.”

Deformer's gameplay driven game won't feature a single animation in the game, it will be entirely driven by physics.

"From the beginning we wanted it to be melee-based," said game director and studio co-founder Andrea Pessino to Eurogamer. "It fits with the fact that it's 100 per cent based on physics. There's not a single animation in the game. Everything is simulated."

Deformers will release "soon" on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
