Nintendo hasn't commented much on the details of their upcoming console, codenamed NX. Most of what we know comes from patents and rumors, nothing official. Last year, Nintendo filed a patent for a disk-less stationary console popped up on the web, only to be followed up by a rumor that the NX would be using cartridges for games instead of disks.
The GameStop CEO, Paul Raines, has suggested that the NX will be using physical items for games, which rules out the idea that the NX will be all digital.
“I would say that the fact that there are rumours of that type just confirms for you that this is an important console for next year,” Raines said during the company's most recent earnings call (via VG247).
“It will have physical media, we will play a role in it, our pre-owned business will also play a role. So we’re excited about that.”
What the NX will have hasn't been detailed by Nintendo, we can only hope that the developers give us details soon… because we might just go crazy otherwise.
