Stylish Indie Action: Furi gets a release date and a price

Don't forget the bullet hell

Do you like high speed, stylish action games? Then I have good news: Indie developers The Game Bakers recently announced Furi will release on July 5, for $25 on Steam and PS4.

Furi is a title any action fan should keep an eye on. The entire game is a boss rush, where players go from one boss to the next, slashing their way to freedom from a bizarre, futuristic prison. It's stylish action boiled down to its most basic elements, and mixed with bullet hell. Dodge, cut, shoot, and parry as you weave your way between projectiles and inside your enemy's defenses to punish them.

Each boss has several phases, denoted by a separate life bar and a change to the current music track. Phases play noticeably different as well, adding some longevity and variety to every encounter. Furi looks to be the kind of white-knuckled gameplay players could expect from a character action game's rival battle, blended throughout the entirety of the game. I'm a fan of this.

Furi also features characters designed by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki, and music by Carpenter Brut, among others, to give it a visual and aural flair all its own. Check it out in the unedited boss footage below and let us know what you think:
