While we wait to see the Ex Machina star, Alicia Vikander, in the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider film reboot, the actress has taken to speaking on the film. Which isn't too bad for us, considering the the movie is over a year away.
While it's great that Vikander actually played Tomb Raider when she was younger, the new films will not be based off of the hardened Lara Croft from the older games, but the younger Lara from the new ones.
“They told me they were doing the film based on the reboot of the game from 2013,” said Vikander in an interview with HitFix (via IGN). “That is more of an origin story. You get into an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way. So I hope that doing a film of the rebooted game will bring something new and fresh that’ll stand on its own two legs.”
The Tomb Raider movie starring Alicia Vikander is set to release on March 16, 2018.
