Hulu has announced Marvel's The Runaways will finally go into production as an original series.
There have been a lot of lesser known comic titles that have been trying to claw their way up from obscurity. With endless rumors and speculation about one titles in particular, 'The Runaways' has been a topic of dicussion among hardcore comic fans for years. Never really finding its way out of development hell, the story has been passed around long enough and has even been endorsed as a top pick for adaptation by the likes of 'Guradians of the Galaxy' director, James Gunn. Now it seems that the well-deserving comic series may finally see the light of day.
The popular streaming service, Hulu, recently announced that they would be the ones to option 'The Runaways' as an original series. So far, its been confirmed that a pilot script has been ordered by the network and a possible greenlight for a full series order is on the table. Marvel Television and ABC will be backing the project, which means this new venture will in fact be a part of the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Brian K. Vaughn series began in 2003 and centered on a superpowered group of teenagers, escaping their lineage of supervillain ancestry. The story isn't your typical superteam dynamic and with a non-stop supply of drama, comedy, and action, it'll be sure to finally give mainstream audiences, as well as devoted fans, something they've never seen before in a series like this.
