The other day I was wondering what had become of Below, the Xbox One roguelike game that was arguably the most intriguing indie title that was hitting the platform. The game had been announced ahead of the release of the console itself at E3 2013 and has since been hit with numerous delays. Back in December, developer Capybara told Game Informer that the game would release sometime in 2016 and was later given a window of Summer 2016. Well in case you haven't noticed, Summer is almost over and Below still has not been released.
Fortunately, it's not for a lack of trying as Capybara took to their official blog to make the announcement that Below has once again been delayed, but this time indefinitely. Here's an excerpt:
"We told you BELOW would be out this summer. Our team worked hard to make that deadline a reality. But after a strong push, we’ve decided it isn’t ready. We did a lot of soul searching. We knew we wanted to get it into your hands as soon as possible. We knew the game was there, and we’re super proud of it, but we also knew it needed more time to make sure it lives up to our studio’s standards, and the quality that you expect from our games. From the very beginning, BELOW has been our most ambitious undertaking, and we’re just not quite done excavating its depths, or polishing all of its facets."
