Twin stick shooter, Monsters and Monocles now available on Steam Early Access

Crumpet Cannon, where have you been all my life?

If you've got an itch (a twin-stick itch) to shoot something, the victorian shooter Monsters and Monocles might have exactly what you are looking for. The set-up is pretty simple (and mostly unimportant), a naive occult collector has inadvertently unleashed a terrible evil upon the world and it is up to you and your friends to shoot it relentlessly in the face. The game's official description labels your group as a "team of quirky paranormal investigators", but the reality is that you are going to be doing WAY more shooting then investigating. Did I mention there would be shooting?

Monsters and Monocles will give players procedurally generated environments, powerful weapons, and ancient relics to play around in and characters will be customizable to fit your preferred playstyle. By defeating enemies, vanquishing powerful bosses, and looting treasure chests, players will have a plethora of options to create their own unique experience. In an effort to enhance the sense of teamwork, players will share a pool of lives, so if one player falls, it hurts the entire team. Fortunately, you will be able to revive fallen comrades, so to get through the game, you will need to constantly be on your feet.

Here's a list of the game's key features:

  • 4 player co-op – Both local and online
  • Co-op centric gameplay – Revive teammates and shared pool of lives across all players
  • Challenging single player
  • Procedural levels, enemies, power-ups, objectives, and secrets
  • Customizable abilities – Collect relics that can be upgraded to match your play style
  • Huge bosses
  • Sound design & Music by Hyperduck Soundworks
  • Dogs wearing smoking jackets
