Star Wars is one of the hottest properties in pop culture right now, but it would seem that the power of sex and mystery may be more powerful than the force. The sequel to one of the biggest erotic movies of all time, Fifty Shades of Grey, just had its trailer debut the other day and it took the internet by storm. Middle aged housewives everywhere viewed the trailer and gushed over Jamie Dornan's body while sharing it to all their social media feeds filled with women fascinated about the darker side of sex.
The women (and some men) got the trailer for Fifty Shades Darker to break a record. Star Wars: The Force Awakens, one of the biggest movies of 2015, had a trailer that reached 112 million views in just 24 hours and Fifty Shades Darker just barely beat it. The erotic thriller managed to surpass the trailer for the seventh installment in the Star Wars series by just two million views, making it the most viewed trailer in a 24 hour period. That's right, a movie about sex just beat out Star Wars.
The film got 39.4 million views in North America alone but amassed a total of 74.6 million outside North America in 32 countries like the U.K..
Fifty Shades Darker will release February 10th, 2017 and will be the second film in the Fifty Shades trilogy.
