Nidhogg was a one-of-a-kind fencing game that released back in 2014 on PC (and later on PS4 and Vita). It had a rather simplistic art style, with each character consisting of only one color, with minimal detail. You relied on the silhouette of the character to define in your mind what they might look like. Nidhogg 2 sounds like it's going to be taking away some of that imagination, as you can see from the trailer above, but the visuals are markedly improved.
Here are the main features for Nidhogg 2 per an official press release:
- Completely overhauled detailed environments and animations
- 10+ levels of fencing goodnessLocal and online multiplayer and tournament mode
- Play single-player against a series of AI opponents with occasional special challenge rounds
- New soundtrack featuring music by Mux Mool, Dose One, Daedelus and more!
Nidhogg 2 is also playable at TwitchCon 2016 (going on right now), so if you're at the show and want to check it out, head over to the Indie District, Booth 104. If you can't make it out to TwitchCon, you can catch a Livestream of the game here at 5:15 pm tomorrow, Saturday, October 1.
Nidhogg 2 will release on PC (and maybe other platforms) sometime in 2017.
