BioWare’s Jade Empire sequel is “never dead”

Soooo when will we be seeing it?

In 2005 BioWare released an action RPG named Jade Empire. The game was met with tons of praise, garnering scores from anywhere from 8/10 to 9.9/20. Basically, the game was great and left people definitely wanting a sequel.

Now, 11 years later it looks like the sequel could still happen. Recently, BioWare opened up on the potential for a sequel to Jade Empire, saying “Jade as a sequel is never dead.”

While Bioware’s Creative Director Mike Laidlaw left it at that, General Manager Aaryn Flynn chimed in with his own comment on the game:

“There are a lot of people still at the studio who worked on that game and want to get back to it,” said BioWare GM Aaryn Flynn. “I think one of the advantages to getting back to it after a long time is not only nostalgia is a very powerful feeling in people, but skipping a generation of hardware is actually really exciting because it feels like it’s not an evolution. It’s a revolution of what you can do, and I think that’s the kind of thing that brings people. What if we were to revolutionize Jade Empire and brought it back in that regard? That’s the kind of talk that still happens around the studio."

With 11 years having passed since the game's original release, a reboot (like the Tomb Raider reboot from Crystal Dynamics) might be the best choice for the game. If not that, then remastering the original for current consoles – either way, it would give people an opportunity to experience the game!
