Toonami makes a comeback

The next entry in the popular anime series Dragon Ball is finally hitting U.S. televisions next month.

Toei Animation, Funimation, and Adult Swim announced the new season for the English dub of Dragon Ball Super will begin airing January 7, 2017 on Adult Swim’s Toonami block. The first episode will air at 8PM and then again at 11:30PM EST, with the rest of the Season 1 episodes following each Saturday. There will be a total of 26 episodes in all.

Most of the original voice cast, including Christopher Sabat (Vegeta/Piccolo) and Sean Schemmel (Goku/King Kai), will reprise their roles.

Toonami will also air Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters after the second airing of Dragon Ball Super that night. DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters focuses on the final Buu saga of the popular “Z” series.

Dragon Ball Super is huge news for fans of the show, as this is the first new storyline in almost two decades involving series creator Akira Toriyama. The Japanese version already aired last year.
