Abandon Ship Looks like FTL Meets Sid Meier’s Pirates

And we're getting a look at it during PC Gamer Weekender 2017

Abandon Ship is a game about ship sailing during the age of pirates. The developers call it "FTL-meets-Sunless Sea in the golden age of sail". But any pirate related game has a certain Sid Meier's Pirates! call-back to it.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag was a series favorite for a lot of people because of the pirate motif, but because it was an Assassin's Creed game, it had to split its focus between Assassin tricks such as assassinating, sneaking, etc. and pirating/ship sailing. Abandon Ship has no such split focus, as everything shown takes place on a ship.

One of the biggest let-downs of Black Flag's pirate sections was the crew. They simply acted as a health bar and nothing else. While there's no information on how the crew works in Abandon Ship, developer Fireblade will explain how players will control their ship, crew, what each part of the ship does, etc. More information can be found on their site, but they also plan to reveal much more at the PC Gamer Weekender 2017 on February 18-19 at Olympia London.
