Indie Title Firewatch Passes 1 Million Copies Sold

Campo Santo adventure game Firewatch hits a milestone

Indie adventure title Firewatch has passed one million copies sold. Developer Campo Santo announced this milestone on Twitter, as the millionth copy was sold in late 2016, assuming December.

The indie title had already hit 500,000 copies in its first month of releaseFirewatch released in February 2016 for PC and PlayStation 4, and later on Xbox One in September of 2016. It was a great launch title for Campo Santo, being praised for its spice-of-life story-telling and beautiful imagery.

It did so well in fact that a Firewatch movie is being worked on by the film company Good Universe. Another proof of success was a Ford dealership in Massachusetts blatantly ripping off Firewatch's image, using it in an attempt to sell a Freedom Sales Event

Firewatch is set in mountainous Wyoming circa 1989. You play as a man named Henry. He's not a handsome young protagonist, he's a man in his 40s escaping the stresses of life and alcoholism to try and recenter himself. But while the job was said t o be boring yet relaxing, Henry finds an adventure of his own and it's a refreshing change of pace from typical video games. For more on the game, read our review here!
