Conan O’Brien’s Clueless Gamer Segment to Become a Series

Who knew not knowing how to play video games was entertaining enough for a show

Conan O'Brien, best known for his slew of late night TV shows and currently for his show simply called Conan has a new series in the works. A popular segment on his show, Clueless Gamer, is becoming its own series according to TBS president Kevin Reilly.

He told The Hollywood Reporter that production on the show, to still be called Clueless Gamer, will begin in February. It will retain its current format of the web series, but will now be treated as an actual series on TV. For those unaware, Clueless Gamer is a series where Conan O'Brien sits down with celebrities and plays a new video game, often around the time of their release. The playthroughs are cut into comedic segments where Conan either makes fun of the game or himself for his incompetence at video games.

One of the most famous Clueless Gamer segments often touted as the one that made it popular, was Conan's playthrough of Skyrim. Since then, many publishers have been throwing games at Conan's team in the hopes that he'll help promote them. "We've gotten to the point where video game companies are sending us their new product for us to play and make fun of because it's been such a huge success," Reilly said. "We're going to go into production on a series of that."

Conan has a contract with TBS through 2018. Reilly stated that they expect Conan to renew his contract afterward and that his comedian career has no end in sight. As mentioned above, Clueless Gamer will be premiering in February, although no time or exact date has been given.
