Overwatch: Blizzard announces the “Year of the Rooster” event

"Good luck and great fortune await!"

Blizzard has just dropped the first teaser trailer for their upcoming 'Overwatch' event, "Year of the Rooster".

This past 'Winter Wonderland' holiday event was one of Overwatch's most successful to date. Despite a few skins that might have dropped the ball with creativity, there was still a lot of fun to be had and it left fans hankering for the next event on the horizon. Luckily, they won't have to wait as long as previously thought.

Most were speculating when the next event might be considering Blizzard has said no Valentine's Day or Easter based events were on the way. As it turns out, the next event will be the "Year of the Rooster", a New Year's event starting next week! Overwatch's Facebook and Twitter pages just dropped the following announcement trailer featuring Mei, as well as a Korean trailer which features a bluer motif with D.Va repping the event.

We can assume with a degree of certainty that Mei and D.Va will be getting the new skins featured in the two trailers. There is still much to be revealed as far as any other skins, voice lines, sprays, etc. It does seem likely that the event will focus on characters with an eastern influence, so it can be assumed that Hanzo and Genji (possibly Symmetra) could also be getting some new looks to try on. There isn't much to go on so far, but more should be revealed when the event kicks off Tuesday, January 24th.
