The Pokemon Company apparently had an all-new mobile game completely under wraps that they decided to casually release today without much noise. Pokemon Duel is a strategy board game in which players send out a team of six Pokemon figurines and attempt to cross over into their opponent's territory, battling each other along the way. Each Pokemon figurine has unique traits, such as abilities as well the number of steps it can take, creating a nearly limitless number of strategies that players can take.
When Pokemon come face to face, a battle commences. These battles are dictated by Attacks that are stored on a Data Disc (which you can see in the trailer above). Players spin the disc to make an attack selection and doing so can either knock out or push the opposing Pokemon off of your path.
As you progress through the game, you will unlock stronger and stronger Pokemon, though currently there's no indication whether or not your Pokemon can evolve (it'd be stupid not to IMO). Players can then take their team online and battle other trainers around the world, or if multiplayer isn't your thing, you can play the game solo.
Pokemon Duel is available to download right now on iOS and Android.
