The Great Dreamer will be making his long-awaited return later this year according to the game's listing on the Focus Home Interactive website. The listing was noticed by a NeoGAF user called NeoRaider, alongside the release window for Focus Homes' other IP, Vampyr.
This year's Call of Cthulhu represents something of a reboot as the IP hasn't seen a main entry since 2009 with Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, which was also a first-person horror game. There was a spin-off Turn-based Strategy game called Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land back in 2012 for PC and Mobile, but it failed to become anything significant.
Details on this year's Call of Cthulhu have been sparse, with a trailer back at E3 2016, a batch of screenshots, and its Depth of Madness trailer (embedded above) being the most notable stories on the game. What we do know is that it will be an "RPG Investigation game blending psychological horror and stealth mechanics in a deeply immersive world with an oppressive atmosphere," according to a previous press release.
Frankly, the game sounds quite awesome and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Hopefully Call of Cthulhu can come through on its promise when it releases in Q4 2017.
