While Keanu Reeves says he is open to a fourth installment in the Matrix series, it looks like Warner Bros. isn't interested in having him back. Instead, they appear more interested in rebooting the hit sci-fi film from 1999.
That's right, it's being reported that The Matrix is getting rebooted.
According to sources close to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is "in the early stages of developing a relaunch of The Matrix." Regardless of the reboot being in its "early stages" there was a fair amount of information to go along with it.
The sources detailed that Zak Penn, the co-writer of X-Men: The Last Stand is in talks to write the first draft and that the original trilogy's producer, Joel Silver, is looking to be involved. Unfortunately for Silver, Warner Bros. is concerned with bringing him on because of his rumored difficulties with the Wachowskis, who wrote and directed the trilogy.
As for whether the Wachowskis will be involved or not, Warner Bros. wants their 'OK' on moving ahead with the project.
Now, for the most important part… Who will be Neo?! It appears as though Michael B. Jordan (Fantastic Four, Creed, Black Panther) is the front runner for the main role in the film.
