Aquaman just keeps adding baddies to the roster. This time, we're told that, in addition to Black Manta and Orn, we'll also be seeing Dolph Lundgren, yes THAT Dolph, as King Nereus.
Well, if you make Jason Momoa Aquaman, it only makes sense to pit three villains against him. Dolph Lundgren, best known for his role in Rocky IV, has actually been in a superhero movie before. He played the Punisher in the 80s film adaption of the character.
The interesting thing about King Nereus is that he's a newer villain in Aquaman's gallery, debuting only in 2013. In the comics, he rules the kingdom of Xebel. He sends Mera to kill Aquaman, who obviously doesn't do it, and that makes him very angry.
Can you imagine Dolph Lundgren fighting Jason Momoa in an underwater brawl? Not to mention Lundgren's laundry list of experience as a movie bad guy.
Is this too many villains though? Or are we just trying to remind people that Aquaman can be cool? If they can pull it off, more power to them. Aquaman will debut in theaters December 21, 2018.
