In 2008, Treyarch changed Call of Duty forever with a secret mode in Call of Duty: World at War called Nazi Zombies. It's a wave based, co-op survival mode where you fight hordes of zombies with various real and fictional weapons. The mode proved to be so popular that it began making its way into more and more Call of Duty games and it became the selling point of each DLC.
Treyarch's last zombie adventure was in the fourth DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 in 2016 and many assumed that would be the last time we'd see Treyarch's zombies mode until their next game releases in 2018. Well, we may get one last DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 very soon.
A new Spanish retailer listing suggests a fifth zombie-centric DLC is coming soon. The DLC is called "Zombies Chronicles" and it sounds as if it'll be included with new copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (similar to a "game of the year edition"). The listing mentions that 8 classic Treyarch Zombies maps will be remastered and will include some features from Black Ops 3's Zombies mode. You can view a rough translation of the listing below.
“It is a full suite which brings the original contents of Black Ops 3 and the content of Zombie Chronicles, includes 8 classic maps of Treyarch Zombies remastered and all the maps include the Gobblegum function.”
Of course, nothing has been confirmed so take it with a big grain of salt. It's entirely possible it is real as some leaked Call of Duty: WWII marketing material mentions a co-op mode, but no zombies mode. It's possible Activision wants to keep cashing in on zombies even without doing a brand new iteration of it. If this is real, which maps would you like to see get remastered for Black Ops 3?
