Concrete details on the upcoming God of War game have been relatively sparse over the last year. While everyone and their grandmother expects the game to have a significant presence at E3 2017, we are left to glean anything and everything we can from the fountain of hope that is the internet. As it turns out, a Portuguese retailer called Gaming Replay has a pre-order page for the game open and lists a release date of September 14th, 2017.
Here's a screenshot of the listing.
Obviously, there's no way to tell if this release date is accurate, but this is not the first hint that the game may be coming sometime this year. Back in March, God of War ads appeared in Spain in celebration of Father's Day, suggesting that the game is close. Another indication came from Kratos' voice actor, Christopher Judge, who referred to the game as "God of War (2017)."
Given the incredible success that Sony has enjoyed in the top half of 2017, it would stand to reason that they would need some sort of flagship title to help carry them through Q4, the busiest time of the calendar year.
God of War would certainly fit that bill.
