The Microsoft E3 2017 presentation was filled with announcements for games and their upcoming beefed up Xbox, the Xbox One X, but there was one extra announcement for backward compatibility. It turns out that Microsoft will be making original Xbox games available on the Xbox One line of consoles, along with the Xbox 360 games that have been backward compatible for a while now.
There's only one way to play original Xbox games and it's with the hideous behemoth of a controller that the original Xbox came with. Luckily, a third party accessory manufacturer has brought the original back, with help from Microsoft, to use on your Xbox One and PC (via Windows 10).
Official Description:
"The nicknamed 'Duke' controller for the original Xbox was big, bold and tough. On June 11, Hyperkin, a video game hardware development company from Los Angeles, announced that – in partnership with Xbox – it is bringing back The Duke for the Xbox One family of devices (Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X) and Windows 10 PCs. Hyperkin's Research and Development team sought the assistance and the blessing of Seamus Blackley, who played an integral part in the original Xbox team.
"The Duke sports a faithful recreation of the original controller's form-factor with some updated features: a logo display screen, left and right bumpers, and a 9 ft. detachable cable."
