E3 2017: God of War gets an epic trailer at Sony’s Press Conference, releasing ‘Early 2018’

Kratos like we’ve never seen him.

Last year, Sony surprised everyone by starting their E3 2016 presser with a gameplay demo of an all-new take on God of War. Now that the game is no longer a secret (not to mention the epic poster they put up in downtown LA), Sony went full steam ahead on the God of War hype train as it proved to be one of their 2017 conference’s pinnacle moments.

Here’s your new look at God of War:

God of War once again follows Kratos, who has since given up his old god-slaying life for a quiet refuge in the Nordic lands. He went on to have a son, Atreus and the game is a father-son adventure with an emphasis on narrative in a much more poignant way that the original trilogy just didn’t do.

The gameplay has also changed quite dramatically, which now shifts to a Resident Evil 4/The Last of Us style over the shoulder perspective with combat that is much more methodical than before.

Naturally, it wouldn’t be an epic showing without answering the question everybody wants to know. God of War will release exclusively on PS4 in Early 2018. No, it's not a full release date, but at least we've got an idea now.

Keep it locked to GameZone for all things E3 2017.
