The second season of Attack on Titan debuted in April 2017, almost four years after the first season of the hit anime premiered. It looks like the studio behind the manga-turned-anime has learned a thing or two over that long break between seasons – churn out the anime faster.
The third season of Attack on Titan will not be coming in three years, nor will it be coming in two! Season 3 will be releasing at some point in 2018! The announcement did not specify when we can expect the show to release in 2018, just that it will release in 2018.
Either way, we can't be too upset with that release window, especially because it's coming much sooner that season two did!
