Modders Have Created Super Mario 64 Online and It’s More Involved Than You’d Think

Engram hunting in Destiny 2? Heist pulling in GTA Online? That's child's play… Let's go coin collecting in Super Mario 64 like a pro-gamer!

The same modder who put Super Mario Odyssey's hat capture mechanic into Super Mario 64 has now modded a multiplayer mode into the game. Now, Super Mario 64 technically had multiplayer when it launched on the DS in 2004, but it was only four players and even then, it was for specifically designed arena stages and not the whole game. The link to download this mod is in the following video's description.

The best part is that it doesn't take a computer science degree to get the mod working. In fact, the tutorial video (posted at the end of this article) is only a little over a minute long! The only annoying issue is port forwarding if you're the host, which is a pain, but it's such a well-known pain that there's plenty of people that can help, especially on the official Super Mario 64 Online Discord server.

If you like this modder's work, they're still doing work regularly. Their name is Kaze Emanuar, and they're on Patreon. More donors mean more mods! Who doesn't want to see more?
