Code Vein makes no bones about the fact that it's a Souls-like game, drawing heavy inspiration from a genre that got its start all the way back in 2009 with Demon's Souls on the PS3. However, it's anime art direction is quite different compared to the traditional gothic horror we've gotten so used to seeing, so hopefully, some new visual tricks are lurking beneath the surface with this game.
During TGS 2017, Bandai Namco dropped a new trailer for the game, which gives a more cinematic look at the gameplay from the IGN First gameplay reveal from earlier this month.
Check it out:
While most of Code Vein is what you would expect from the genre, it will attempt to change things up with an AI companion that can draw enemies away, heal you, and revive you. Though I'd have to think that regarding revival, that there are some pretty strict limitations on its usage. Expect to die a lot in Code Vein when it releases in 2018.
