Mothers: “Nintendo Doesn’t Know What Girls Like,” Unimpressed by Wii Fit
kombo -
With the game selling out coast-to-coast and gaining endorsements from the likes of Ellen, one would think that Nintendo has succeeded in their goal of reaching out to everyone, young and old, male and female alike.
But apparently, it's not quite reaching everyone, as the Florida Orange County Register reached out to some of that area's local blogging moms to try out Nintendo's latest sensation, and not all of them were especially impressed, with one stating "They don't know what girls want. They don't know what girls like" of the creators of Wii Fit.
Another's issues came with the public nature of the title: "As I sat in the parking lot waiting to go test the product I decided to Google Wii reviews on my phone. That is when the horror came over me: Review after review said the first thing the Wii Fit did was weigh you and give you a BMI number. Weigh me? In front of the PRESS? Obviously the makers of the Wii Fit weren't trying to market to women. What were they, insane? I can only imagine plugging in the Wii Fit at home and seeing my weight and BMI on a 60" plasma screen. I might pass out, I think."
Personally speaking, I don't think how much a lady weighs really matters, so much as how they use it.
"Well, I may not have been impressed, but, my son absolutely loved the Wii Fit. Funny, since I don't think the Wii Fit people were targeting preschoolers when they developed this game. I don't doubt that they will indeed sell a zillion more Wii Fits to moms looking for a fun way to get fit. But I'm willing to bet, it's the kids who will inevitably end up playing with them."
