Sony’s Venom moving is definitely moving along. A number of actors have been attached to the film and now, it officially has someone to write the script, as well as stunt coordinators!
It is being reported that the screenplay writer behind Fifty Shades of Grey, Kelly Marcel. While Fifty Shades of Grey is generally viewed as a horrible film, there’s a bright side. Fifty Shades of Grey’s script was revised by numerous individuals and was changed by the book’s author. On top of that, Marcel openly criticized the film.
Kelly Marcel is best known as the creator and executive producer of the TV series Terra Nova and for writing the scripts for Saving Mr. Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey. As far as reception goes, Terra Nova was well-received at the start with reviews dipping off towards the middle of the season – the show was not renewed for Season 2. Saving Mr. Banks was fairly well received and Fifty Shades of Grey was highly criticized, but surprisingly noted to be better than the book.
As for the stunt coordinators, Omega Underground is reporting that fight coordinator Tom Connolly, Chris O’Hara, and Jack Gill have joined the production team. Connoly and O’Hara worked together on John Wick, The Avengers. Individually Connoly worked on Logan and O’Hara on Baby Driver. Gill, on the other hand, worked on four of the most recent Fast & Furious films, as well as Captain America: Civil War.
After getting hit with a delay, Venom is still on track to release at some point in 2018 with will star Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. It’s been suggested that Riz Ahmed will be taking the role of Carnage wiin his MCU debut as the film’s antagonist.
Venom is set to hit theaters on Oct. 5, 2018. The film will not be part of the Spider-Man universe.
