Assassin's Creed: Origins has been shown off seemingly ad nauseum since its gameplay debut at E3 2017, but one thing it hasn't shown much of is its stealth gameplay. The Ubiblog released a gameplay profile video of just that very topic, speaking with Game Director Ashraf Ismail and Creative Director Jean Guesdon about the different systems players can leverage to their advantage.
Check it out:
One of the really cool aspects of this system that Guesdon explains is that there will be forts and temples that will be beyond your level, but the game won't stop you from attempting to try them. By using a crafty combination of stealth and misdirection, players can actually get through these areas by staying undetected. Though getting caught will get you killed instantly.
It's this sort of open-world exploration freedom that has been popularized in 2017 by Breath of the Wild that Assassin's Creed Origins will be using in its own systems to challenge players unabashedly.
Other ways that players can stay in the shadows is by learning the animal taming skills, which can be used to unleash chaos on enemy camps without them spotting you. First, you'll have to put them to sleep via sleep dart and then have Bayek approach them to make them his ally. These animals can be anything from lions to hippos, so there will be plenty of options to choose from.
Upgrading your bow will also be a must if you plan to play stealthy. The Enhanced Predator Bow is a skill you'll want to have as it allows players to steer the direction of their arrows after firing them. So if there's an enemy around a corner, you won't have to wait for them to reappear and risk alerting their comrades. You can just take them out while hidden, and no one's the wiser.
Assassin's Creed: Origins is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing entries that the series has seen in years, and it will release on October 27th, 2017 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
