With the holiday season quickly approaching, Nintendo has announced that they won’t be discounting the Switch for the holidays.
There are a number of bundles out there that include the console coupled with games, but none of the offers will be below their $299 retail price. With the success of the Nintendo Switch this year, it’s no surprise that Nintendo doesn’t have to discount their new console, but we’re sure to see their competitors selling their wares for a steep discount on Black Friday. Nintendo will, instead, focus on having enough supply on shelves, according to The Washington Post’s interview with Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.
There are plans coming in 2018 to combat Nintendo’s supply problem, as the console has been selling faster than they can stock them. “We actually sold through almost 2.8 million units, so we dramatically over delivered.”, Fils-Aimé said back in September of this year. ”And yet, demand outpaces supply. So what do some of the consumers on Reddit say? ‘Gosh, Nintendo, if you would’ve made more you would’ve sold more.’ Well, we did make more! And certainly, we’re on a pace to supply in the current fiscal year 10 million units.”
Fans rejoice, however, the lack of Switch bargains only refers to the console itself, not accessories and games. Nintendo has certainly been owning the year 2017, and has claimed that they have no plans to slow down in 2018. For those looking for holiday bargains, Nintendo does have other products on the price chopping block.
