Bright Draws 11 Million U.S. Views On Netflix In First Three Days

Netflix's first full-length film pulls in some hefty numbers.

Nielsen, the company that measures TV viewership, announced in October that it will be measuring Netflix viewership as well. Today, the company has released the view count for the new Will Smith Netflix movie Bright.

The company stated that Bright being a full-length movie makes its data different from other ratings released for titles on Netflix like Stranger Things and Orange is the New Black. That being said, the film brought in 11 million TV viewers during its first three days on Netflix. Nielsen only tracks TV views, so mobile and PC views may add to that number.

According to Nielsen, the film has reached a younger audience, with 3.9 million at ages 18-34, and 7 million at 18-49. The gender split was 56% male.

Netflix committed $90 million to the entire package, with a whole $3 million going to the script. Bright is out now on Netflix, starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton. Written by Max Landis and directed by David Ayer. It tells the story of two cops in a world where fantasy races live in the 21st century right next to humans. The story shows the racial tension between humans and orcs while acting as a parallel to racial injustices we see today.
