PUBG Corp CEO wants to put PUBG on every platform once Xbox exclusivity is up

PUBG is the biggest game of 2017 and its only on two platforms, Xbox and PC. The game boasts impressive numbers on each platform with 30 million players total, a record-breaking peak of 3 million concurrent players on Steam, and much more.

As the game gets loads of attention across Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and other platforms, glossy eyed PS4 fans are dying to get their hands on the game. While there is Epic Games’ free to play substitute Fortnite: Battle Royale, it doesn’t quite scratch the same itch for everyone. With that said, the game is exclusive to Xbox One for an undisclosed period of time but that doesn’t mean it can’t come to other consoles at a later date.

PUBG Corp’s CEO Chang Han Kim discussed the matter in an interview with Invenglobal and stated that they’d have to evaluate rules on other platforms once the Xbox exclusivity is up.

“As it’s going to be an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time, we’d like to focus on completing the Xbox One PUBG for now. If we have the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform.

Early Access on Steam and Game Preview on Xbox One are like pre-release, so they don’t have a restriction on quality. However, PS is very strict about this. There were cases where a game took 6 months more to launch even when it was already completed. We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste. We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first.”

Chang Han Kim also discussed the development of the Xbox One version and how it’s hard to say when it’ll officially hit 1.0 but the team is working very hard to make it happen.

“It is hard to have an exact plan for the game development, and this is why we started off as Early Access on Steam. We promised in the early development phase that we would launch the game at the end of the year, and we barely managed to keep it even after sacrificing our holidays (laugh). The dev team is working really hard to also resolve the market issue that came up recently. The next goal is to complete the stabilized 1.0 version.”

PUBG is out now on Xbox One and PC.
