Mafia 2 and Prey are now backward compatible on Xbox One

Time to revisit two classics.

One of the greatest crime games inspired by some classic gangster films such as Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas and The Godfather and a cult classic sci-fi game are now available on Xbox One thanks to backward compatibility!

Players on Xbox One can revisit one of the finest games from 2010 in the form of Mafia 2. The game stars World War II veteran and up and coming Italian mobster Vito Scaletta as he returns to his hometown of Empire Bay, a city bursting at the seams with crime, corruption, and violence. Scaletta and his longtime friend Joe must rise the ranks of the Italian crime organization to make something of themselves and learn about the importance of family, wealth, power, and more. The game was critically praised for its story and has a slightly more realistic approach to the open-world crime game formula that GTA put in place.

Vito Scaletta reappears as a main character in Mafia 3 which is set years after Mafia 2 in a fictional version of New Orleans. The character is older and sits back as someone who calls the shots rather than getting his own hands super dirty. If you’re curious about the cliffhanger at the end of Mafia 2, you’ll find a resolution to that story in Mafia 3.

Sci-fi fans can also go back in time and play Prey! Not the 2017 reboot but the original game from 2006! Prey (2006) and Prey (2017) have drastically different stories but borrow similar themes and concepts. The original Prey is about a man of Native American descent named Tommy who is abducted by an alien spaceship with his girlfriend and grandfather. Tommy must use some supernatural abilities to help find his family and stop the aliens from consuming the Earth.

Both games are available on disc and digitally on the Xbox store. If you already own the game, you can slide in the disc to your console or find your digital version in your Xbox One game library.
