In 2016, developer Dontnod Entertainment released their now critically acclaimed narrative driven game Life is Strange. The title was praised for its powerful story, fantastic characters, and unique premise and went on to spawn two spin-offs but fans have been really craving a direct sequel. We’ve known for a while now that Life is Strange 2 was in the works but it’s been up in the air when we’d actually get to play it but now we know!
Life is Strange 2 is officially releasing its first episode on September 27th, 2018, as of right now we have no details on what the story of the game or if protagonist Max Caulfield will return in any shape or form.
It’s all a bit of a mystery but Dontnod promises more details will be shared in August likely at Gamescom.
Publisher Square Enix confirmed via email that the upcoming spin-off revealed at E3, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, will link Life is Strange 2 in some way. It’s entirely possible that Max’s story is truly complete and we’ll be moving on to a new set of characters, setting up Life is Strange as a series of anthology stories in each mainline game.
Life is Strange 2 will be split into five episodes as expected and will likely release throughout the course of 2018 and 2019. You can get The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit completely free on June 26th on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Life is Strange 2 will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC come September 27th.
