PUBG is reportedly coming to PS4 this December

According to multiple credible sources

Eurogamer reports that PlayerUnknown’s Battleground – short PUBG – is going to launch next month on the PS4. The publication didn’t specifically state their own sources but confirmed this to be true.

The possible port of PUBG on the PlayStation 4 was never really out of the question. After all, avoiding the most popular console does make very little sense for any non-first party developer. A few weeks ago, the game was rated for PS4 in Korea, and yesterday game analyst Daniel Ahmad confirmed a PS4 port for this December on gaming forum ResetEra.

Very soon on PS4? It looks like it!

The game which basically jump started the battle royale genre in 2017, started its life on the PC, as many indie projects tend to do. Born out of a free mod for the hardcore military simulation game ARMA, Brendan Greene, the creative mind behind the game, sensed the rough diamond in his hands and went on producing a standalone game.

Gamers on Microsoft’s Xbox One have been enjoying PlayerUnknown’s Battleground since last December as an Xbox Game Preview title. Xbox’s Early Access program. Ever since, PUBG remained a Xbox One console-exclusive but neither Microsoft nor developer PUBG Corporation ever stated PUBG to remain exclusive like that.

Timed exclusivity deals are not unheard-of in the gaming industry, and seeing that this recent rumor of a December release on PS4 is supposed to happen exactly one year after the game’s Xbox One release, it gains more credibility. Microsoft might have secured a 12-month exclusivity deal with PUBG Corporation, which is running out this December. Thus, the developer can now release the on PS4.

PUBG’s release on PS4 couldn’t have come at a better time. The once most popular game on Steam has long lost its massive appeal as the premier battle royale experience after more polished and free rivals like Fortnite have diverted significant player figures for themselves.
