Fans of awesome 2D action and exploration games rejoice! The highly-acclaimed Hollow Knight is getting a sequel in Hollow Knight: Silksong. There’s no release date but Silksong will be coming o PC and Nintendo Switch. Check out the reveal trailer!
Hollow Knight quickly became a phenomenon when it launched two years ago out of nowhere. Being the inaugural game by Australian indie developer Team Cherry, it’s only that much more impressive how well the bug-themed metroidvania turned out. It’s not only a great metroidvenia but one of the highest-rated games of the generation period.
As such, it’s not that surprising that the studio has decided to work on more Hollow Knight. Like the dev explain in their blog post, Silksong was originally intended to be DLC but the scope quickly got out of hand and the team decided to create a full-blown sequel instead.
Indeed, Hollow Knight: Silksong is looking pretty meaty with all-new bug kingdom to explore, new bosses, over 150 new enemies and more. The satisfying combat of the original is still here and expanded. Sounds pretty promising and with a brand-new protagonist, a Hornet princess, there’s bound to be unique twists in the gameplay aspect as well.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers will need some patience, as they aren’t targeted as immediate launch platforms but Team Cherry has already stated that ‘more platforms are planned’ but the simply fact that the studio is a three-man endeavor, they simply can’t do everything at once. Seeing how they managed to bring Hollow Knight across pretty much all platforms, we’re confident that Silkworm will arrive on the remaining consoles in a timely manner.
