The cult vampire-role-playing game from 2004 is finally getting a sequel in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Publisher Paradox Interactive announced the news that fans of iconic franchise will be able to play the game not far off, in early 2020. Check out the announcement trailer!
The original Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines came out a whopping 15 years ago and instantly became a cult hit among RPG fans. Great writing, a fleshed-out world and a big emphasis on player choice and alternate playstyles catapulted the game high on Best Of lists everywhere. The themes of vampires and macabre humor only helped. But despite all this, the game never became a commercial hit and thus no sequel happened for a long time. To the dismay of its rabid fanbase.
This all changed when Paradox swooped in to buy the rights on the dormant IP in 2015 and it looks like work had begun not much later on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. With a release date of Q1 2020 – that’s early next year – the outlook is pretty great. Developed by Hardsuit Labs, Bloodlines 2 aims to offer the same depth in terms of world-building and player agency that made the first one so beloved. The original writer Brian Mitsoda is also on board which only further increases the confidence into the project.
Created in an act of vampire insurrection, your existence ignites a blood war among the vampire factions who run Seattle. To survive, you’ll choose a clan and enter into uneasy alliances with the competing factions in a world which will react to every choice you make. Unleash your supernatural powers against your prey, but be mindful of your surroundings at all times or run the risk of breaking the Masquerade — the absolute law of secrecy that keeps Vampire society hidden from humanity.
Once again, players will find themselves in a dark and corrupt city, this time Seattle, where various vampire factions are fighting for control and dominance. Players will be able to align with each of them as they wish, opening up new and exciting paths to solve missions. Exactly what fans were hoping for.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is set to come out early next year for PC and consoles.
