Capcom is preparing the announcement of a brand-new Resident Evil game. The Japanese publisher has teased audiences worldwide with the official unveiling for this new Project Resistance on September 9th. But resourceful users managed to extract and leak what are presumably screenshots of this new Resident Evil project. Ceck them out here!
Gematsu reported on the leaked screens via Japanese website Games Talk. And from the few screens leaked today, it looks like Project Resistance is going to be a very different Resident Evil game. The most obvious detail we are seeing is an entirely unknown, new cast of characters. None of whom look to be veterans of the cult zombie franchise.
The most obvious idea is that we are looking at a spin-off game or an introduction of a new generation who are going to take over the torch of the series’ older protagonists. Inspecting the pictures a bit closer and we can clearly make out that the guy with the red and white jacket has a dog tag. So, it would make sense that he’s some sort of soldier.
Project Resistance will be shown at Capcom’s booth
during Tokyo Game Show 2019!
Come to the booth’s stage to see members of the development team show off gameplay! This will be the world’s first look at the game,
so you won’t want to miss it!
Furthermore, no picture is showing any first-person perspective. Does this mean that the series is returning to a third-person viewpoint after the successful experiment which was Resident Evil 7? Time will tell. Seeing four characters in one of the leaked images, it could also be very plausible that we are going to get a co-op shooter spin-off in the vein of Left 4 Dead.
Of course, these images could end up meaning very little when Capcom officially unveils Project Resistance in two weeks. Unless we get official word on what this new Resident Evil game is going to be, it’s all guesswork in the end. Stay tuned for more detail in the coming weeks.
