DIRT 5 launches October 9, Campaign detailed in new trailer

The biggest Dirt so far

Codemasters has released a new trailer for DIRT 5. This time it’s all about the racer’s single-player campaign. We also now know that the game will come out for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on October 9th. You can watch the new trailer here!

Story modes in racers have traditionally been a mixed bag. For every engaging racing campaign, we sadly got numerous cringe-worthy and annoying stories where we wished the developers had rather used their time and energy on more content instead. Codemasters is pretty confident that DIRT 5 will become part of the elite racers that actually manage to pull it off well. Not the least thanks to an impressive cast of actors.

None other than Nolan North and Troy Baker will play an integral part in the story of DIRT 5. Together with the folks from the popular automotive-focused folks from Donut Media, things are looking promising. When real racing fans collide with megastars, we expect an enjoyable outcome.

Baker takes on the role of Alex ‘AJ’ Janicek, an icon of the DIRT World Series and fan favourite who becomes the player’s mentor. North, meanwhile, portrays Bruno Durand, the cold and calculated racer who’s hell-bent on dominating another racing series, by any means necessary. All the while, the Donut team host an in-game podcast that drives the story forward, with breaking news, major interviews and big-time pot-stirring on their audio show.

But this focus on weaving a meaningful narrative into the career mode of DIRT 5 doesn’t mean other corners are being cut. Quite the opposite. The developer is proudly proclaiming that they created the largest career mode ever in a Dirt game, with “130 events, five chapters, nine event types, real-world sponsors, optional objectives, choice-driven progression, and more.” You can read more about that in detail here.
