Next-gen is nearly upon us! Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are both slated to hit this holiday season and while we don’t know much about pricing for the consoles, we’re starting to know how much the games will cost. NBA 2K21 opened pre-orders today, revealing the PS5 and Xbox Series X version will be $10 more.
For the longest time (though not always), games have typically been priced between $49.99 and $59.99. The current gen versions of NBA 2K21 will still be $59.99 but if you want that sweet, sweet next-gen action, it’s going to cost you at least $69.99. You can get an upgrade to the next-gen version by also buying the $99.99 Mamba Forever edition, titled after the late Kobe Bryant who passed away this year. This is interesting to note because some games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will have free upgrades.
2K Games is also building the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game from the ground-up but progress from the game will carry between console families.
We’ve reached out to next-gen platform holders for comment to see if this is going to become the new norm and will update this article if we hear back.
