Square Enix and Platinum Games have posted a tweet in regard to Babylon’s Fall. In that statement, the companies share that work on the title is still continuing. We also learn that they initially planned to show and talk more about it this summer but due to unforeseen consequences it didn’t pan out.
Now here’s a game that has been almost entirely forgotten. Originally unveiled two years ago as a collaboration between Square Enix and Platinum Games, things have gotten eerily quiet about Babylon’s Fall.
Greetings,
Thank you to all fans who’ve been following along for updates on Babylon’s Fall.
While we hoped to reveal more about the game this summer, we can share that development on Babylon’s Fall is continuing to progress well, with the team working safely from home.
Square Enix and Platinum Games are committed to delivering an exhilarating experience and we look forward to showcasing much more on Babylon’s Fall to you as soon as we can.
Even though the game was first shown over two years ago, there’s surprisingly little detail out in the wild about it. While the initial reveal was a stunning showcase that set the fantastical atmosphere and world of the game, it was just late last year when we first saw actual gameplay footage.
It’s fair to say that the developer’s DNA is clearly visible in it where fast-paced melee action is the center of attention. But the world-building reminds us of Souls games, rather than Devil May Cry. With character-action masterminds, Platinum Games at the helm, Babylon’s Fall is automatically one game to look out for.
Just as with many other games this year, the Coronavirus pandemic hit the developer, with them having to shift to remote work. It’s likely this drastic change that led to the game being a no-show this summer when it was originally planned to be shown in greater detail.
It remains to be seen whether the circumstances will have an effect on target platforms as well. Babylon’s Fall was originally slated to come out for PlayStation 4 and PC.
