Atlus has unveiled that two Shin Megami Tensei titles are inbound for the Nintendo Switch in 2021. The next mainline entry into the iconic JRPG series will be launching exclusively on Nintendo’s handheld alongside a remaster for Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne. Check out the teaser trailers below!
While the remainder of this year looks kind of silent for Nintendo Switch owners in terms of large caliber game releases, 2021 is already poised to be yet another hallmark year. Not one, but two entries in the legendary JRPG franchise Shin Megami Tensei have been confirmed to launch on Nintendo’s popular system.
With Shin Megami Tensei V being arguably the highlight, Switch users will once again be getting the exclusive opportunity to enjoy the main entry on their system. It sure seems as Atlus is following their past strategy of splitting the SMT and Persona franchises across Nintendo’s and Sony’s consoles. Hardcore JRPG fans once again need to own multiple systems to enjoy the entire gamut of SMT goodness.
In that regard, the announcement of Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster should come as good news for owners of either platform. The remaster of the PlayStation 2 cult spin-off has been confirmed to come out on both the Switch and PlayStation 4 in 2021. With the PS5 being backward compatible it’ll also be playable on Sony’s next-gen system.
Arguably the biggest blow from these two announcements has been dealt towards the PC community which is still reeling in from the enjoyment of receiving their very first modern-era Atlus JRPG Person 4 Golden. Despite the port’s immense success on PC, neither SMTV nor Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster has any info to share about a PC version.
With previous SMT titles firmly staying on Nintendo hardware, we aren’t foreseeing any changes there but we wouldn’t be surprised if the Nocturne remaster made its way to the PC.
