Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for the anime adaptation of Dragon’s Dogma. The show becomes available on Netflix next month, September 17th. Check out the sweet trailer here!
The original Dragon’s Dogma video game from way back in 2012 can almost be considered retro these days. It’s almost a decade old after all and came out for last-gen consoles. But thanks to current-gen remasters the franchise has gotten a second wind which it truly deserves.
In that vein, the anime adaptation of Dragon’s Dogma headed soon to Netflix ought to be a must-watch for fans of the game. Not only is it pretty much the single new product of the series in essence ever but publisher Capcom is likely watching how the reception goes with keen eyes.
After losing his home to a dragon, Ethan sets out to hunt it down once and for all. A pawn appears by his side and serves to protect his life. But the dangers that lie in wait for Ethan are beyond their imaginations, for when you fight a monster… you just may become one too.
The game is a real sleeper hit that managed to achieve success by word of mouth way after its launch, prompting remasters even. Many gamers were hoping to get a sequel long ago with the infamous Deep Down tech demo presented during the reveal events of the PlayStation 4.
Now, at the tail end of the generation, we are a lot smarter and Deep Down is long dead. With Dragon’s Dogma having a rabid fanbase and newfound popularity due to remasters across every current-gen console, the addition of the Netflix anime series is arguably the best sign yet that Capcom has not given up on the IP.
We suspect a full-blown sequel is at the works for next-gen to be quite honest. Until then, you can enjoy what looks like a very faithful adaption of the game’s story in the upcoming Netflix show.
